10 Tips & Tricks to Help You Make the Perfect Wax Seal

What are the skills for making a wax seal? Here are 10 tips & tricks to help you make the perfect wax seal .

1. First of all, we should pay attention to safety. Fire is used in the process of making wax seal, so we should be alert to fire safety and avoid the risk of getting burned.

2. The amount of sealing wax to be used depends on the size of the stamp, e.g. 2-3 sealing wax beads for a 2.5cm diameter stamp, and 3-4 sealing wax beads for a 3.0cm diameter stamp. If you want the wax seal to look fuller, you can increase the number of beads.

3. When melting sealing wax, simply heat until the wax melts and pour it out for use. If the wax is heated to boiling, air bubbles may form causing puddles on the surface of the wax seal and it is necessary to keep the sealing wax away from the fire and allow it to cool down for a while before pouring it out.

4. Different sealing waxes have different melting speeds. For waxes that are more liquid after melting, we can leave them for 5-10 seconds before pressing on the wax seal stamp, which will avoid spillage of the molten wax.

5. When pressing the wax seal stamp, place it lightly on the molten wax; if you press the stamp hard enough, the surface of the wax seal will be too thin and will not have a three-dimensional appearance.

6. When using a melting spoon to melt sealing wax do not let the spoon get too close to the fire to avoid the bottom of the spoon getting blackened. A good sealing wax melting furnace will work well for you to solve this problem.

7. If you do not intend to seal the wax seal directly on the packaging or envelope, you can choose to make it on release paper or release plate, so that you can easily remove the wax seal.

8. To remove the remaining sealing wax from the melting spoon, wipe the inside and outside of the spoon with a tissue paper while it is still hot, but be careful to avoid burning your hands during this process.

9. If you want to keep the wax seal in the right direction, you can make a small mark on the stamp in advance with a colour pen, then you will always get a straight and perfect wax seal

10. The Wax Seal can be coloured with different coloured colouring pens, which will make the pattern more distinct.
